Springtime has arrived and we have harnessed our renewed energy to accomplish many things in the past few months. To start, we all breathed a sigh of relief after having successfully completed the fourth grade New York State Science Assessment. Our hard work in preparation proved very helpful as the students shared how confidently they were able to approach these assessments.
This
spring we enjoyed a very special field trip. We had an exciting time at Carnegie
Hall at the Link Up Concert. All our hours of recorder practice were not in vain
as we were allowed to play along with a professional symphony orchestra. Seeing
our fellow students on the stage at Carnegie Hall was a unique, unforgettable
experience that we will treasure forever.
In Science we are wrapping up our Healthy Lifestyle Unit. It is our hope that the children will incorporate all the lessons to ensure a healthy lifestyle for one and all. In Social Studies we are finishing our study of the American Revolution and ending the year with our exploration of the new nation. We are finished with our geometry unit in math and have begun our last unit of study, fractions and decimals. Practice maintaining multiplication and division math facts over the summer as well as reading, reading, reading, will help one and all transition nicely into fifth grade.
Our exciting fourth grade year will end in style with our class pizza/ice cream parties, and our field day extravaganza. It has been a rich, rewarding time for us all and we look forward to an exciting summer and to becoming seasoned Cottage Lane fifth graders in September.
