School Library News

 By Mrs. Bandura

While the temperatures outside are rising, Library lessons are also heating up.  Fourth graders have visited the Library to do research on non-fiction topics.  These topics ranged from: animal research to researching the lives of famous Patriots.  Fifth graders have spent many hours in the Library to research and report on a State that has been assigned to them.  Each student has become a mini-expert on the history and current facts about their State.

As the school year winds down, I would like to encourage all students to join the Summer Reading Club at the Public Library.  Continued reading throughout the summer will keep your brain active and more ready to get back into the swing of things in September.

SOCSD Summer Literacy Packets have gone “electronic.” To find your suggested reading list, log onto: www.socsd.org. Look for the SOCSD Reading Lists graphic. Current 4th graders can click on the link for Cottage Lane’s Summer Literacy Program. Current 5th graders can click on the link for SOMS Summer Literacy Program.

Good Luck to our fifth graders.  Mrs. Ravi and I will miss you and wish you all the best in the Middle School. We hope that everyone has a safe and happy summer.  Remember…it’s cool to read in the summertime!
