Schindler's List
      By: Thomas K.

For this I-Search project, I chose to read the book Schindler’s List, written by Thomas Keneally.

This book is about a German man in Cracow, Poland during World War II named Oscar Schindler. He used the Jews to start a factory, but once he witnessed the horrors that were being done to them, he starts to save them.

My favorite part of the book was when Oscar Schindler helped the Jews escape from torture.

For Social Studies, I created a map of Poland and a timeline of events, because my story takes place in Poland. I researched the years of 1939, 1941,1943 and 1945.

For Science, I researched a report about the Twin Experiment. Even though my book did not talk about the Twin Experiment, when I saw the interview of one of the twins that survived on NBC, I was really moved and it touched me deeply and this occurred during World War II.

For Art my partner and I drew our own poster that used propaganda. We drew a propaganda poster because in Poland and other places involved in the Holocaust, people like Hitler and other people created Propaganda to make the people go against the Jews. Another thing they would make that was similar to propaganda was games for the German children that would have things like kill the Jew.

Another thing that they would make were, songs that would say "Hate the Jews, Kill the Jews" and radio broadcasts that claimed false accusations about what the Jews do and what they could do if they over power other people and become over populated. Hitler wanted people to think that the Jews were bad. Many of these things are similar to propaganda, and really affected the children to make fun the Jews and not be their friends anymore.

In conclusion, I thought my book was depressing and that it gave you very graphic pictures in your mind. I learned that the Jews were not just sitting around in concentrations camps. They were made to work until they were killed. Also, that they were forced to walk on fields as mine sweepers.

I HOPE YOU ENJOYED OUR I-SEACRCH PROJECT!!
