Review:

This story is about three men who venture into the center of the earth. They have no hopes of surviving after almost dying three times. But they fight their way through the earth.

The oldest person in this book was Professor Hardwigg. He is also the uncle of Henry, also known as Harry. Hardwigg used to be a member of the Institution and studied science. He was attracted to a piece of parchment written in code by Arne Saknussemm, and he did not eat or sleep until Harry found the key to the code and told him.

The guide in the journey was Hans. He was an Icelander who spoke Danish. He also was silent and spoke only one or two words at a time in his own language. As a hunter, Hans robbed the eider duck of her nest because it was so soft.

The youngest person in the book was Harry. He also was less experienced and softer than the others, so he was who suffered first. His mother was English, so he was at least half English. He did, though, prove to be useful in the journey when they carried the supplies.

Gretchen was the cousin of Harry. She hardly played any part in the story, except when she married Harry. She also did not take part when a port was named Port Gretchen, except that it was named after her.

This book shows the probable dangers inside the earth. The author also imagined what it would be like in there and imagined the creatures, of which some were extinct on the crust, or on the earth. When the book ends, some people will be surprised, and others will not be surprised at the ending.
