The book Fantastic Voyage is about five people who are injected into a man's dying body. Riding a miniaturized submarine and passes through the heart to the brain, to battle a clot with the sharp rays of a laser. The question is, though, will they have time to reach the clot, destroy it, and return?

The story begins with Benes and Grant being in an old four-engine plasma jet. There is only an hour left. After the first part of the chapter, though, the book shows a conversation between General Alan Carter and Colonel Donald Reid. They are both tense about the most important man in he world coming to Earth after coming from the Other side.

Both men are talking about the Other side and Their side, because if Their side has a trick, the Other side has a counter-trick, and if Their side has a man planted on the Other side, the Other side has a man planted on Their side. That part of the chapter ends with the statement that there are sixty-one minutes left until Benes arrives.

The next part of the chapter concentrates on Dr. Michaels and Reid. The men talk about one of the charts for the blood cells, and then about Benes. They talk about Duval, a surgeon, before the end of this chapter. Then, Reid says that there are thirty-seven minutes left before Benes arrives.

The next part of the chapter starts with Dr. Peter Lawrence Duval making the careful measurements on the 3-D x-ray photographs. After that, Cora Peterson enters and has a little conversation about Benes, because he is the most important man in the world. Then, they talk about the laser. One on the lasers has a problem, and Duval looks up from his work for a moment and talks about it. At the end, there are twenty-one minutes left until Benes arrives.

The last part of the chapter starts with Captain William Owens meeting Colonel Gonder. They talk about Grant and Benes, and they say that Grant is a good agent, and Benes might be a false Benes, but they shake that off. The chapter ends with the plane arriving, and security surrounding the plane tightly.

The next chapter is about Benes landing on Earth, and Grant leaves, because his job is done. The last part of the chapter is about how Benes hits the side of the limousine and knocked unconscious. Then, five people are called in the next chapter to save Benes.

The adventure starts when four men and one woman go aboard the Proteus, a submarine that is best suited for this kind of adventure. They first miniaturize to a microscopic fraction of their original size, and then injected into Benes' neck.

They pass through places like the heart, which is very powerful with all its blood, and the ear, where the slightest sound would destroy them. This 60-minute event would change the entire world if the journey succeeds.
