Review:
The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants is a fabulous book about 4 great friends. Lena, Bridget (or Bee as her friends call her), Tibby and Carmen have been friends forever. Though separarted for the school year, they always spend the entire summer with each other. The summer they turn 16, they must seperate. Eccentric Tibby is the only one to stay in their Maryland home. Here, she befriends with a 12 year old girl with only a few more months to live. She learns some BIG lessons from a little girl. All or nothing Bee goes to a sports camp on a tropical island where she falls head-over-heels for an older guy. This causes chaos for moody Bridget. Beautiful, but not a people lover, Lena jets off to Greece to visit her grandparents. Their she misinterperts a boy's actions, and realizes her mistake after causing a huge fight between her family and that of the boy's. Carmen goes to South Carolina to visit her father(her parents are divorced). She is looking forward to lots of quality,one-on-one time with her father.
Upon arriving, she finds out that her beloved papa is about to remarry. She must become a part of another family including 2 siblings. She over-reacts quite a bit.Uh-oh!!!!!
These girls, so far apart in body, need somrway to stay connected emotionally over the summer. Carmen finds a pair of pants that fit all 3 girls and makes them look great-each in their own way. The 4 young women decide to pass the pants alomng to each other over the summer and write the most important events-directly on the pants(hence the name The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants). I lved this book and also read the sequel The second Summer of The Sisterhood.I highly recomend both books!

The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants by Ann Brasheres is a story of four girls who discover a pair of magical pants. Carmen, Lena, Bridget, and Tibby are the creators of the sisterhood. Carmen bought the pants in a thrift shop just because she needed jeans. she threw them in the back of her closet and never took them out. Until one day one of the girl took out the jeans and asked Carmen if she could have them. When all the girls tried them on they fit everygirl perfectly. Even Carmen who has a huge butt and Bridget who is very tall.
After all the girls go to different places for the summer. They send the pants to each other who are in totally different places. Bridget falls in love with her camp counsler. Carmen over reacts to her father getting re-married and having two new kids. lena discovers that she is intruding in someone elses private place. Tibby becomes friends with a 12 year old who only has a few more months to live.
The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants is not just a good book but a book girls can relate to. I would recommend this book to girl ages 11 and over. Ann Brasheres uses lovely adjetives that paint pictures in your mind.
