Review:

The Tiger Rising by Kate DiCamillo is about Twelve-year-old Rob Horton who has just moved from Jacksonville after his mother’s death. He now lives in a Motel with his father.

Rob is a normal twelve year old in school but there is something wrong with his legs. They have some kind of an infection on it and people make fun of him for that.

Rob went searching in his back yard but what Rob finds in the backyard of his motel was shocking.

There was an animal in the cage now the animal is not an animal you see ordinarily in a backyard it’s not a skunk, its not a Raccoon, its not a bear it’s a … TIGER! Rob was amazed and he wasn’t sure whom to tell.

The next day a new girl came to school her name was Sistine. She met Rob on the bus she was dressed all fancy in a pink dress and she talked to Rob and the other kids in a condescending way. In school Sistine was picked on a lot too.

One day Rob had been called to the principal’s office it had turned out that some parents wanted Rob to leave because they thought his leg was contagious. So Rob got a note after today he never had to go back to school.

That day during lunch Rob saw Sistine kicking and punching so Rob went over and he saw some people were bullying her Rob stood up for her and he ran away and the bullies ran after him eventually they got tiered and went away.

They became friends on the bus that afternoon and Rob told her about the tiger to. She is amazed and says, “we have to free it”

Suddenly one day the manger of the hotel takes Rob to the tiger and tells Rob that he owned the Tiger. Then the Manager asks Rob if Rob wanted to feed the tiger Rob said yes and he got the key to the cage. What should Rob do free it or leave it?

The reason I gave this book three stars is this book is very adventures and not that funny so if you like humors books then this book is not for you. Is the book doesn’t have a lot of suspense or cliffhangers, and as I said it wasn’t that funny but the main reason was that it is really short. Other then that the book was good and that was my first book I ever read by Kate DiCamillo I Think might read more in the future.
