Heroes of the
Holocaust
Abstract: Students in the KEA program participated in an 8-week study of the Holocaust and its silent heroes from Anne Frank to the people of Denmark whom formed a resistance to foil Nazi’s plans.
Students in the KEA program read grade level novels on Holocaust Heroes. Each student selected a scene and wrote a play from that scene. The students then created podcasts of their plays. The podcast include music that represents each play. Following are students’ ideas and responses:
6th Grade
Ian D.– Ian resides with his family, Alex and Mom in Palisades NY. He enjoys collecting Deloreans, drawing and learning about the Lusitana. His favorite food is pizza and pretzels He looks forward to summer vacation when his family will go on a cruise.
Ciaran C.– Cairan resides in Blauvelt, NY and summers in Ireland where he is surrounded by family members. Ciaran has 27 family members in all, including the dogs and fish. He enjoys computers, swimming and golf. He hopes to see his grandmother this summer.
Matt G.- Matt joins us from Rockland Middle School. He resides in Blauvelt, NY with his Mom, Dad sister Tanya and brother Donnie. He enjoys archery and being a scout for Troop 36.
7th Grade
Michael C.– Mike recently moved to a new home in Pearl River, NY. His parents and brothers Walter and Sean are going on a family cruise this summer in honor of his grandmother. He enjoys bike riding, baseball and Italian food. He is currently a scout in Troop 36 and loves to camp.
Daniel F.– Dan is currently a 7th grader at SOMS. He resides in Blauvelt, NY. He enjoys ice fishing and mud riding, pizza and video game 25 to life.
Simon T.– Simon is currently a 7th grader in SOMS. His family members include his two wonderful dogs Misha and Jasmine, Mom , Dad, Annie and Brother Nicky. Simon is a political activist and dog lover. He spends many hours rough housing with his dogs and spending time with his grandfather. He is also known for his computer skills
