Late Work Policy

Teachers set their own policies regarding late homework; speak to your teacher for more information.

Essays must be handed in on or before the due date. If you are in school, but miss English on the date the assignment is due, you are still responsible for handing the assignment to your teacher on that day.  If you are absent on the date the assignment is due, the assignment must be handed in on the day you return. Penalties:  5 Points will be deducted for each day the assignment is late.

Re-Write Policy

The following policy applies only to major papers which have gone through the Writing Process.  A student will be permitted to rewrite such a paper according to the following guidelines:

  1. The initial paper was submitted on time

  2. The student schedules a conference with the teacher within three days of the paper's return

  3. The rewritten paper must be submitted within five school days of the conference. The original paper must be attached to the new version.

  4. The student's final grade for the paper will be the average of the original grade and the new grade.

Plagiarism

Simply put, plagiarism is the act of taking someone else's work and presenting it as your own.  When students submit work purporting to be their own, but which in any way borrows ideas, organization, wording, or anything else from another source without appropriate acknowledgment of the fact, the students are guilty of plagiarism. Plagiarism is a serious offense and will be treated as such.

If you have any further questions about plagiarism, please consult your teacher or the librarian.
