What Season is It?
Cottage Lane Students:
I was so delighted to hear from so many of you! You had excellent comments and questions.
I will use your ideas to build more blog pages.
l Safety first! Remember not to put last names on this blog.l
Several of you asked about the season and the weather. This blog posting will give you some clues. Can you figure out the answers?
There are many beautiful parks in every city and town, like the one in the picture above. It is full of clues for you. (Remember, if you click on any picture in this blog it will enlarge. Then click on the back button at the top of the page to return to the blog page.)
What season is it right now in New Zealand? Is it the same as, or different from yours in New York? How do you know? Can you explain why scientifically?
When I went for a walk through a park, I saw a host of daffodils! Of course it reminded me of William Wordsworth’s poem, The Daffodils, so I took a movie clip of the scene. (My students, can you still say the abridged version by heart?) Click on the link below; then tell me if you agree with the way he described how daffodils move in the breeze.

Here are some more hints:
Are you my mommy?
My friends, Marcella and Margaret, stopped traffic along the busy street in the city of Christchurch so the mommy duck and her babies could cross the road safely.Make way for ducklings!
Sooooo sleepy!
This seal pup is enjoying the sunshine on this beautiful day.
Now it’s your turn.
Do you have answers? Questions? Comments? I'd love to hear from you!

hey,
It's Amanda again. I was wondering what you liked most so far about your trip.
Amanda (I miss you!)
Hi Amanda! Good to hear from you. What I like most so far are the friendly people we've met, and the beautiful views. There are many lovely gardens and parks everywhere we go. Also, we often go walking along the coast so we get awesome views of the ocean and the rocky shoreline. Some areas have lots of seals, like the one I included in the picture above. The countryside has lots of hills covered with green grass and dotted with sheep. This is also very beautiful. Whenever I see a beautiful scene, whether it's in the country, along the seaside, or in a garden it makes me happy to be alive. What about you?
Hi ms. C-B, The ducklings in the picture for this blog remined me of my mom. Every day, when she comes home fromwork, she has to cross the street to get to the parking lot. And everyday, there are little ducks that cross the road and everybody stops for them. she says that they are very cute and that each day, they seem to get a little bigger. I have to go to my basketball practice now. Bye! From: Asproutagus
Good text-to-self connection there, Little Sprout! Tell your mom I miss chatting with her. Did you read Make Way for Ducklings when you were a little kid? I'm sure your mom is reminded of the story when she sees those ducklings crossing the road.

Hi Mrs.Christie Blick!
it's francesca again. i was just wondering if you teach just one subject in the Kiwi schools or if you teach more than one. if you teach more than one, than which is your favorite to teach?
Miss you lots!,
Francesca
Francesca,
I am here to learn how the people of New Zealand educate their children, so I mostly watch and take notes. I don't teach a subject. I DO miss teaching, so I was happy to have a chance to teach about the United States and cultures at Redcliffs School.
I miss you too!
Ms. C-B
Dear Ms.CB, My mom says that she misses talking with you to. She also says that she thinks that the ducks flew south for the winter, because she hasn't seen them lately. Have you ever seen the Nutcracker on stage or in a play before? I'm going to see it for the first time tommaro with my new friend, Charlotte. She was on my soccer team(which came in second place!). Any way, I have to go.
From Asproutagus
P.S. Wish me good luck on my fisrt soccer game today!
